How an Architect uses MapServe

Leigh Bowen is the principal Director of 50° North Architects, a practice of seven professionals. They are based in London and cover mainly London and the home counties but also the rest of the UK.

Challenges

‘We use plans we purchase from MapServe on various aspects of our business such as to find out a site’s location, for planning applications and building control and feasibility studies documents. We also need it to create site plans, find out about height data and create services & utility plans.’

How I use Mapserve?

I mainly order the Mastermap in DWG format which I later underlay on sketches on iPad in order to find new accesses and how sites relate to projects. I also combine the maps with google area views and street views to do site appraisals.’

Why Mapserve

‘I was previously with Promap but I switched to MapServe when I received an informative email. Other suppliers have complicated interface compared to MapServe which is simple, quick and clear compared to the rest of the providers.’
