Security & event solutions provides close protection services for high-end events, festivals and music events, with a focus on outdoor venues. They cover events all over the UK. Emily Pickering works as a production manager. Her responsibilities include creating CAD drawings, coordinating with event promoters and handling event planning and layout design. Challenges
‘Our clients are looking for the most cost-effective solution for CAD plans. I buy the most cost effective CAD plan which is OS MasterMap®. I can then add all of my information onto the map, like tree locations. Before you do a site visit, you take the plan and you draw on it. Sometimes you don't know what type of land it is. We do quite a few events on a beach as well. The lines of the beach are evolving which is difficult to work with, if you're doing it only from a CAD plan or an OS map. You do have to do a site visit since it's ever changing. Events are very different to construction and for most of them we can't do a site visit as they are on the other side of the country. You have to rely on basically what you can find of the Internet. The more information provided is better for us. ’
How I use MapServe®?
‘I use it for any external event we work on. I will buy an OS map and work directly on that and do our festival or event layouts on that. The map I purchase is MasterMap®. ’
